Green Valley School follows the British curriculum (as we do at our sister infant school, Happy Faces Kinder), and children aim to take their IGCSE examinations when they are in Year 11. Green Valley School is also an authorised IB School following the IB Diploma Programme (International Baccalaureate) for Years 12 and 13, starting in September 2021.
IB World Schools share a common philosophy: a commitment to high quality and challenging international education, which Green Valley School believes is important for our students.
Here at Green Valley School we believe that, as an international school in Spain, children need to be educated with a good balance between English and Spanish.
Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Literature, Geography, History and Music are taught by a qualified native English-speaking teacher , while Spanish Grammar is taught by a qualified native Spanish-speaking teacher.
At Green Valley School we believe that it is very important for students to learn study techniques that help them learn more effectively and in less time. Similarly, to make sure that what has been learned is remembered and retained in the long term.
Our high school students have three hours of Independent Study a week during school hours to do their homework and study practicing concentration techniques, speed reading, mind mapping, and using effective methods to improve their memory, among others.
An integral part of school life is based on the well-known approach of multiple intelligences.
This means that all of our activities and classes are designed so that we can genuinely find where each child’s talents are, whether it be in Maths, Sports, Literature, Music, Theatre and Dance, Science, Carpentry Lessons, etc.
Once we can find those key talents, we can use them in other areas of the child’s individual learning program.
At Green Valley School, we believe that education (and indeed life!) It’s a balance between many different elements.
The school program has a balance between core subjects, supplementary subjects, playtime, homework and, last but not least, Human Values.
During the school year, various workshops are organized, ranging from Organic Gardening, Cooking, Carpentry and Robotics.
One of the many details that make up Green Valley is that we believe that assignments will actually be done as individual study sessions during school hours.
Since we are a school in Mallorca, we also offer classes in Catalan, French, German or Swedish as a third language, within school hours.
We believe that the best way for children to learn new languages is through fun and organized activities where they are fully immersed in languages.
We truly have a peaceful, family-like environment in which the essence of Human Values is found in every class and activity we organize. Classes and activities are organized with a focus on discovering where each child’s individual talents lie.
